City of Los Angeles v. Patel

On June 22, 2015, the Supreme Court affirmed the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in the case City Los Angeles v. PatelCase No. 13-1175.  The case centers around a Los Angeles Municipal Code which requires hotel operators to keep records of their guest for 90 days.  These records are to be made available to any officer of the Los Angeles Police Department for inspection on demand.  The Court stated that this is facially unconstitutional as it fails to provide the hotel operators an opportunity for pre-compliance review.
